In short
Hoshizaki and Gram are not competitors. Gram has been part of Hoshizaki since 2008 and is now fully integrated. The refrigeration you see under «Gram Premier» is the Hoshizaki cooling series. So you do not choose between two brands, but between four cooling series: Premier, Advance, Compact and Snowflake. For ice machines, Hoshizaki is also a world leader.

Are Hoshizaki and Gram the same?
Yes. Gram Commercial has been building professional refrigeration in Vojens, Denmark, for decades, with energy efficiency and temperature stability as core values. In 2008 Gram was acquired by Hoshizaki, a world leader in refrigeration and ice, and the integration is now complete. Hoshizaki Europe carries the refrigeration under its own name, with four clear series.
For you that means the best of both worlds: Danish design and build quality, backed by the scale and technology of Hoshizaki. More about Hoshizaki refrigeration.
So why do I still see the name «Gram»?
The model designations, such as the K 60 refrigerator or the F 70 freezer, come from the original Gram line and have remained in use. You therefore still come across the name in the trade, in product documentation and on second-hand equipment. At JMGT you sometimes see «Gram Premier»; that is the same cabinet as the Hoshizaki Premier series.
In short: if you buy a «Gram», you are buying Hoshizaki refrigeration.
What does that mean for your choice?
You do not have to choose between two brands. You choose the right cooling series for your situation, and if you need ice, you additionally choose a Hoshizaki ice machine. The full comparison is in our guide to the four cooling series.
| Situation | Choice |
|---|---|
| Hot kitchen, next to the cooking line | Snowflake (tropicalised, R290, EIA) |
| Care, catering or production (HACCP) | Advance |
