iCombi Pro vs. iCombi Classic:
Which one suits your kitchen?

Both are professional combi ovens from Rational. Both roast, steam and grill at a high level. But the choice between them determines how much expertise your staff needs, what you pay, and how consistent your results are.

The four decisive factors

01

Staff and turnover

This is the most decisive factor. The iCombi Classic requires your chef to know which programme to select, which temperature suits which product and how long it takes. An experienced chef handles this easily. But with staff turnover or less experienced employees, the Classic more frequently leads to inconsistent results.

iCombi Pro

Works even with less experienced staff

iCombi Classic

Requires expertise at every step

With changing or less experienced staff: choose Pro. With a stable, experienced team: Classic suffices.

02

Consistency and quality assurance

The iCombi Pro continuously measures core temperature, recognises how full the oven is and adjusts mid-cooking when the door is opened. The Classic does not: when you open the door, the oven loses heat and steam, and the unit does not correct automatically. For HACCP-critical environments such as care facilities, this is a relevant difference.

iCombi Pro

Automatic correction, always consistent

iCombi Classic

Correction left to the chef

For HACCP-critical environments or chains requiring identical results everywhere: Pro.

03

Price and payback period

The iCombi Classic has a lower purchase price than the Pro – for the same size this is typically 20 to 30 per cent less. But the Pro pays back through more efficient energy use, lower product losses and higher output per shift. JMGT calculates the exact payback period for your situation.

iCombi Pro

20–30% higher purchase price, faster ROI

iCombi Classic

Lower purchase price

Lower purchase price with Classic. Total cost over 10 years comparable or lower with Pro.

04

Menu and product variety

A restaurant that prepares the same fifteen dishes every day benefits less from Pro automation than a catering company that cooks a different menu every day. The Pro's iProductionManager only shows its full strength when you are simultaneously preparing many different products. A bakery with fixed recipes benefits less from this feature.

iCombi Pro

Optimal with variation and combinations

iCombi Classic

Optimal with fixed, standardised routines

Variable menu, many combinations simultaneously: Pro. Fixed menu, fixed routines: Classic suffices.
